Visting Author Will Speak at Your Young Authors' Conference!
Author and artist, Meg DeMakas, will spend a day at your school to kick off a school-wide writing project by sharing her children's books and inspiring students to write their own books for local young author's conferences.
Author will in-service teachers about the process of teaching book writing. She will offer writing methods support on-line until presenting on the day of the conference. She will provide 20-page soft back blank books and art materials for illustrations during the project's duration.
On the day of the conference she will bring her muse or 'meows', Jeb, the cat, along with a gallery of her paintings for all her books. The author will present certificates to the student authors at the YAC. At that time copies of her own books will be on sale at wholesale prices.
Presently, the author is working on such a YAC project with South Haven Elementary School, a Blue Ribbon School, in the Portage Township Schools in Portage, Indiana. Her newest book called "Captain Jeb, the Pirate Cat" is about a cat sailing on a raft through the Great Flood of 2008 in Northwest Indiana. The book includes a South Haven flood adventure.

Reflective Family, Inc. offers onsite services that help families and organizations compile oral histories for generations to come. For a sample of our work please check out our on-going efforts with the Marquette Park united Methodist Church of Gary, Indian. It is called the Food & Fellowship Project and features many particpants from many backgrounds. Additionally, this lovely short documentary (4 minutes) was produced from audio tapes and images collected from the grandfield family. It is called "The One Man Dog."
